ChatGPT for Health Coaches – an essential tool for business growth?

If you’re a qualified Health Coach, Personal Trainer or Practitioner in the health, fitness and wellness industry, you can be pretty certain that a lot of people are searching for the unique set of skills, experience and knowledge that you have. But, if you’re struggling to create enough content to grow your business, did you know that ChatGPT could be your new best friend?

As an experienced professional, you’ve probably been hearing the same questions and comments from your clients for many years. For example: questions about the best way to lose weight, gain muscle, improve sleep or train to run a 10km race.

Over the last two decades, the opportunities to share your wealth of expertise have increased exponentially.

When I started out as a personal trainer, massage therapist and nutrition consultant in 1996, my methods of communication were limited to in-person conversation, printed flyers and the occasional radio interview or magazine article. Long before we all had laptops and mobile phones, I used to write articles (just like a modern day blog) and print them on coloured paper and had them out at the gym where I worked.

(I still have them in a folder and they’re as relevant today as they were then – which shows just how powerful ‘evergreen content’ can be. If those had been published online for 20-25 years, just imagine how many millions of clicks they would have had by now, and how many lives they would have transformed.)

When it comes to sharing your knowledge in written form, are you grabbing every opportunity you can?

Before you jump in with excuses, I get it…. Life is busy and between earning a living, being a great partner/parent/friend and enjoying your hobbies, travel or social life, there isn’t always a lot of time left for blogging, or creating other forms of written content like ebooks, online courses or one-to-many training programs.

The difference between making an income based on an hourly rate versus an income based on one-to-many products and services is substantial. You’re ONE person with a limited number of hours in your day, so your income will always be capped at hours worked x hourly rate.

As a health coach or personal trainer, your expertise probably lies in the exceptional 1-1 services you offer to your in-person (or online) clients.

“I’ve thought about writing a small e-book or creating an online course but don’t know where to start!”

“I’d love to write a regular blog but can never find the time!”

“Writing just isn’t my thing. It’s boring / I’m no good at it / English isn’t my first language.”

Trust me, you’re not alone.

What if there was a simple way you could generate ideas, research topics and create content FAST?

In the world of AI, it was only a matter of time before a system intelligent enough to create written content on a large scale – blogs, emails, social media captions, reports, business plans and even books – was created. A company called OpenAI developed a language model called ChatGPT that is revolutionising content creation in the online space.

What is ChatGPT?

According to the Bot itself, “ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI that uses deep learning techniques to generate human-like responses to natural language queries. It is trained on a large corpus of text data and can be fine-tuned on specific tasks or domains to improve its performance. ChatGPT is designed to understand and generate responses in a wide range of topics, making it useful for various applications, such as language translation, question answering, chatbots, and more.”

Instead of fearing AI, we have a great opportunity to embrace it, learn new skills and understand how to leverage its potential to support our work.

7 Ways AI and ChatGPT Can Help Your Work As A Health Coach, Personal Trainer or Wellness Practitioner

Idea Generation: Using platforms such as ChatGPT, AI can provide you with suggestions for content topics based on data analysis – such as blogs and articles, social media posts, headlines and taglines.

Research: AI can make it easier to identify high-potential content ideas by analysing vast amounts of data to provide insights into topics, keywords, audience preferences and statistics.

Content Creation: AI-powered tools like ChatGPT can research, collect data and create written content in a fraction of the time it takes a human to generate the same pieces of writing. This is great for creating outlines and plans as well as generating entire articles, social media captions or product descriptions.

Personalisation: If you have an email list and CRM software (such as Mailchimp, Active Campaign or Hubspot), AI will analyse customer data to support you in creating personalised and targeted copy and campaigns that resonate with your reader and encourage sales and engagement.

Optimisation: AI technology such as Grammarly can help you improve your writing and optimise readability by suggesting changes to grammar, spelling and punctation to improve the user experience.

Improved Efficiency: The automation of repetitive or time-consuming tasks, such as research and editing, will help you to create more content in the same amount of time, giving you an extra helping hand to reach your business or financial goals sooner.

Enhanced Creativity: Having access to a tool that can generate tens of ideas in just a few minutes will spark creativity and new direction, expanding the potential and possibilities in your business.

Intelligent leveraging of AI tools like ChatGPT will help business owners to become more effective and efficient, allowing them to deliver even higher value to their clients. Plus, working smarter, not harder, opens up more free time to immerse yourself in other creative projects, entrepreneurial dreams and business development or simply to enjoy other areas of your life (hello work-life balance!)

Sounds great! But how do I make ChatGPT work for me as a Health Coach or Personal Trainer?

AI generated content can be a great starting point for your writing; an opportunity to generate ideas, data and generic facts quickly and then refine those ideas, edit and expand on the content in your own personal style.

Imagine it’s one of those days where you spend far too long staring at a blank screen, wondering what to write, or rewriting the same sentence 20 times or more before finding the perfect combination.

Or, you’re a busy mum juggling your own health coaching business with the demands of family life and you only have a limited number child-free hours a week, which increases the need to be time efficient and productive.

It’s in situations like this that AI-powered tools – such as ChatGPT – can kick-start inspiration, enhance creativity, improve efficiency and boost productivity. AI-generated writing is great for evergreen content. (Evergreen content is content that is always relevant to your audience and will stay relevant for years to come.)

Because of the limitations of AI, the content it generates is not up to date*. While this isn’t ideal if you need the latest trends and statistics, it does offer a great opportunity to create evergreen pieces of content where facts aren’t expected to change in the near future. For example: home cooking, healthy recipes, fitness routines and wellness tips.

(*At the point of writing in February 2023, ChatGPT’s content can only gather data up to 2021.)

Title: Healthy Meal Prep Tips for Busy People

Eating healthy can be a challenge, especially if you have a busy lifestyle. Between work, family, and other obligations, finding the time to cook and prepare healthy meals can seem impossible. But with a little bit of planning and some smart meal prep techniques, it’s possible to eat nutritious and delicious meals, even when you’re short on time.

Here are some healthy meal prep tips for busy people:

  • Plan ahead: Take a few minutes each week to plan your meals. Make a grocery list and try to buy everything you need in one trip. This will help you avoid impulse purchases and save time in the long run.
  • Cook in bulk: If you’re going to spend time in the kitchen, make it count. Cook large batches of your favorite healthy meals and store them in the fridge or freezer. This way, you can have a nutritious meal ready to go whenever you need it.
  • Invest in quality containers: If you’re prepping meals ahead of time, you need good containers to store them in. Look for leak-proof containers that are easy to clean and can be used in the microwave or oven.
  • Choose simple recipes: Stick to recipes that are easy to prepare and don’t require a lot of ingredients. There are plenty of healthy meals that can be made with just a few basic ingredients, such as grilled chicken, roasted vegetables, and quinoa.
  • Use your slow cooker: Slow cookers are a busy person’s best friend. Simply add your ingredients in the morning, and your meal will be ready when you get home. This is a great way to make soups, stews, and other hearty meals that can be reheated throughout the week.
  • Prep ingredients in advance: Chop vegetables, cook rice, and prepare other ingredients in advance. This will save you time when you’re actually cooking your meals.
  • Make healthy snacks: When you’re busy, it’s easy to reach for unhealthy snacks. But if you have healthy snacks on hand, you’ll be less tempted to indulge in junk food. Some good options include cut-up vegetables with hummus, fresh fruit, and nuts.

By following these healthy meal prep tips, you can eat well even when you’re short on time. With a little bit of planning and some smart strategies, you can make healthy eating a priority, no matter how busy you are.

In under 2 minutes, thanks to ChatGPT, you now have the outline and content of a great blog that you can tweak to suit your personal style!

As a health coach, personal trainer or wellness practitioner with your own personal areas of expertise and passion, you would now take this blog framework and add your personality, tips, images and links to the blog.

For example:

You might want to add a personal story to the introduction sharing how meal prep has helped you to improve your health and physical performance, or how meal prep helps your clients to get the most out of their gym workouts.

In each of the 7 tips you might like to add links to your own website recipes, affiliate links to products you love, and include images or a short video of you prepping food.

As a CTA (call to action) you might direct the reader to a downloadable free meal prep guide (that gets them on your email list) or to book a call with you for a free 20 minute meal prep strategy session.

Once you’ve created a great blog banner image, uploaded the edited and proofread copy to your website and added in SEO search terms, you’re ready to press publish!

This process of generating ideas, researching and writing content can be replicated to create longer pieces of content – like ebooks, course materials, reports and the online business favourite – Lead Magnets!

A Note about Integrity

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably hesitated about using ChatGPT in your business because it feels like cheating, or because you’re afraid of plagiarism or sounding the same as everyone else.

Integrity is one of my core values and it’s served me well throughout my 25+ years as a Personal Trainer and Transformational Lifestyle Coach, as well as almost 7 years as a professional Intuitive Copywriter.

So, while I love the incredible potential of ChatGPT, it must be used with integrity and decorated with your own unique special sauce.

We’ll never escape the fact that in every industry there will always be people trying to bend the rules, make money without morals or stepping on others to get to the top. But you and I aren’t like that, so it’s perfectly ok (clever even!) to leverage the latest technology to support our business growth in an effort to serve more people, create greater impact and support our own personal lifestyle and financial goals.

I’d love to know what you think.
